Get Your Website Back-to-School Ready

It's that time of year again. Back-to-school sales abound, summer camps are soon wrapping up, and parents are looking to dot their i's and cross their t's - but is your website ready to provide information for the new school year?

Box Clever analyzed data from some of the busiest school websites on our WebGuide for Schools CMS to reveal some tips to help you get ready.

Get Ready by August 18th

Just like your students, your website has enjoyed a restful summer break. Traffic takes a nose dive from June 30th until mid-August. Traffic starts to increase around the 18th, and then spikes the last week of the month from the 22nd to the 29th.

To ensure that important back-to-school information is in place for parents and students (at the optimal time), your website should be updated by August 18th when your visitors start returning.

Top 3 Searches

What are visitors looking for in August? The top 3 searches from 2014 are:

  1. Calendars
  2. School Supply Lists
  3. Bussing Information

Armed with this insight, you can now ensure that your homepage has the information that visitors are looking for front and centre.

Here are some school websites sites that are ready for September:

Buck Mountain gives visitors important upcoming dates, a link to their school supply list, and a link to the calendar right at the top of the home page.

École Georges H. Primeau Middle School has complete registration packages ready for download for each grade on their home page

Whitecourt Central Elementary School also lists their important dates and a Supply List download link right on the home page. They also have some great school photos in their School News blog!
